CODY FOSTER
Area Director, GREATER ROCHESTER
Cody Foster grew up in Cazenovia, New York playing football, wrestling, and track in school. He was recruited to play football at St. John Fisher College where he started for three years and became Captain of the team. Foster graduated with a degree in Communication and Journalism with a focus in public speaking in 2014 and has pursued a career in youth ministry ever since.
“Over the past four years that I’ve served in full-time ministry, I’ve built relationships with a vast market of young individuals and have seen that athletes tend to be a different breed of person,” says Foster. “There is a tenacity and competitive drive around an athlete that motives them to achieve the best and be the best. Many of these young athletes can follow the pop culture idolization of famous athletes and end up focusing on personal, temporary gain. I’m passionate about FCA because we bring naturally gifted leaders who are on fire for Jesus Christ into the lives of these athletes, and we’re able to shift their focus onto eternity. I love the opportunity I have to go out and form relationships with athletes and coaches to bring the good news of Jesus to the next level and to the next generation of leaders that are coming up through athletics.”
Foster worked with Young Life for two years in the Rochester area overseeing all of the organization’s ministry in Fairport (a suburb of Rochester). He then went on to work at Browncroft Community Church in Penfield where he currently serves as the Middle School Director. Foster also works as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and has volunteered with FCA running their football camp in June. As an FCA Multi-State Director, he hopes to focus on expanding outreach opportunities and connecting coaches and athletes to local churches.
Foster lives in Penfield with his wife, Kari, and daughter, Leah. His family loves getting outdoors whenever they get the chance to rock climb, hike, and adventure in God’s creation.
